Privacy Policy
Welcome to my website — The Historical Fiction Books of Paul Jariabek.
This is a personal website operated by me, Paul Jariabek. I take privacy seriously and aim to minimize data collection wherever possible. However, some personal data may still be collected through interactions with this site and services I use.
How and When I Collect Personal Information
This site is statically generated, meaning it does not use databases or dynamic server scripts. I take futher steps to minimize collection of data whenever I can. However, some personal information may still be collected when you:
- Contact me or request information;
- Subscribe to my mailing list;
- Submit a form through this site;
- Visit my website (via server logs or third-party analytics).
What Information May Be Collected
You may voluntarily provide personal information such as your name or email address, typically when:
- Subscribing to my email newsletter;
- Using the contact form;
- Communicating with me directly.
Additionally, technical metadata (e.g., IP address, browser type) may be collected by infrastructure or analytics services for operational purposes.
Email List Management and Tracking Technologies
My email list is managed using EmailOctopus. When you subscribe, your email address and preferences are stored securely in accordance with EmailOctopus’s Privacy Policy. You may unsubscribe or modify your preferences at any time using the links included in every message.
Some of my emails may include tracking technologies—specifically, tracking pixels provided by EmailOctopus. These help me understand how readers engage with my emails (for example, whether an email was opened or a link clicked), and I use this information to improve the content and timing of future messages. You can disable this tracking by blocking remote images in your email client or by unsubscribing.
From time to time, I review subscriber engagement. If you consistently do not open or interact with my emails, you may receive a message asking whether you’d like to remain subscribed. If there’s no response or engagement after that, your email address may be automatically removed. This helps ensure my messages are sent to people that want to receive them—and that your inbox stays uncluttered.
Web Analytics and Tracking Technologies
This website uses Google Analytics to understand how visitors interact with the site. Google Analytics may collect anonymized information such as:
- IP address;
- Browser type;
- Time spent on pages.
You can opt out via the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
Facebook Pixel and Conversion Tracking
I may use Facebook Pixel and related technologies (such as Meta Conversions API) to measure the effectiveness of Facebook and Instagram advertising campaigns and better understand visitor behavior on this site. These tools are provided by Meta Platforms, Inc., and allow me to track when visitors take specific actions (such as visiting a page or clicking a link) after seeing one of my ads.
This tracking is anonymous to me—I do not see your personal identity. However, the data may be associated with your Facebook or Instagram profile in accordance with Meta’s Data Policy.
You can opt out of Facebook ad tracking by adjusting your preferences in your Facebook account:
https://www.facebook.com/adpreferences/ad_settings
Alternatively, tools like YourAdChoices or browser-based privacy settings can help you manage third-party tracking preferences. This is a public service anouncement and neither I nor my site have any affiliatation with such services. I am not endorsing this or any other privacy management service.

Data Storage and Retention
Personal information you submit (e.g., through contact or email forms) may be stored by EmailOctopus or temporarily processed by AWS services. I retain this data only as long as needed to respond to your requests or meet legal obligations.
Data Security
I use reasonable administrative and technical measures to protect personal information. However, no online system is completely secure, and you transmit information at your own risk.
