This is a personal website operated by me, Paul Jariabek. I take privacy seriously and try to minimize data collection wherever reasonably possible. How and When I Collect Personal Information

This site is statically generated and does not rely on a traditional site database or dynamic server-side application for ordinary page delivery. However, some personal information or technical data may still be collected when you:

  • Subscribe to my mailing list;
  • Submit a form through this site;
  • Visit my website;
  • Interact with embedded media or third-party services made available through the site.

What Information May Be Collected

In addition, technical information may be collected by site infrastructure or third-party services for operational, security, analytics, or media-delivery purposes. Email List Management and Tracking Technologies

My email list is managed using EmailOctopus. When you subscribe, your email address and related preferences are stored in accordance with EmailOctopus’s Privacy Policy . You may unsubscribe or modify your preferences at any time using the links included in my emails.

Some emails I send may include tracking technologies, such as tracking pixels provided by EmailOctopus. These help me understand how readers engage with my emails, such as whether an email was opened or a link was clicked, so that I can improve future content and timing. You can reduce or prevent this type of tracking by blocking remote images in your email client or by unsubscribing.

From time to time, I may review subscriber engagement. If you consistently do not open or interact with my emails, you may receive a message asking whether you would like to remain subscribed. If there is no response or engagement after that, your email address may be removed from the list.

Web Analytics

This website uses Simple Analytics to understand how visitors interact with the site. Simple Analytics is intended to be a privacy-focused analytics service.

Embedded Videos (YouTube)

Some pages on this site may include embedded videos hosted by YouTube, a service provided by Google. When a page containing an embedded YouTube player loads, or when you interact with that player, Google and YouTube may receive technical information such as your IP address, browser and device information, referrer URL, page URL, and interaction data relating to the video.

YouTube and Google may also use cookies or similar technologies in connection with embedded video players. As currently configured, embedded YouTube videos on this site are loaded from the standard youtube.com embed domain rather than the privacy-enhanced youtube-nocookie.com domain, and they do not autoplay by default. Even so, loading or interacting with an embedded YouTube player may result in information being shared with Google or YouTube.

Facebook Pixel and Conversion Tracking

I may use Facebook Pixel and related technologies, such as Meta Conversions API, to measure the effectiveness of Facebook and Instagram advertising campaigns and to better understand visitor behavior on this site. These tools are provided by Meta Platforms, Inc. and may record when visitors take certain actions, such as visiting a page or clicking a link, after seeing one of my ads.

This tracking is generally anonymous to me in the sense that I do not directly see your identity from the tool alone. However, the data collected through Meta’s tools may be associated by Meta with your Facebook or Instagram account in accordance with Meta’s Privacy Policy .

You can adjust your advertising preferences through your Facebook account at Facebook Ad Preferences . Other browser-based privacy controls or opt-out services may also help you manage some third-party advertising technologies.

Hosting and Infrastructure

This site is hosted on Amazon Web Services (AWS) and may use services such as:

  • Amazon S3 for static file storage;
  • AWS Amplify for build and static hosting workflows;
  • Amazon CloudFront for content delivery;
  • AWS Lambda and API Gateway for limited form-related processing;
  • Amazon SES for transactional email delivery.

These services may log limited technical metadata needed for performance, reliability, fraud prevention, and security.

Data Storage and Retention

Personal information you submit, such as through contact forms, newsletter signup forms, or direct communication, may be stored by EmailOctopus or processed by AWS services and other service providers used to operate the site. I retain this information only for as long as reasonably necessary to respond to your request, operate the relevant service, or meet legal or record-keeping obligations.

I use reasonable administrative and technical measures to help protect personal information. However, no method of online transmission or electronic storage is completely secure, and you transmit information at your own risk.
