Historical Fiction Guest Post Submission Guidelines
Thank you for visiting my website.
I welcome writers, publicists, publishers, artists, and historians who want to expose their historical fiction work to an engaged community of readers. This page outlines the key things you need to know before deciding whether to submit a guest post.
This page is an overview — if your idea aligns, I will send you a copy of the full Contributor Agreement, which I require to be signed before your work shall be accepted and published. Please note that our relationship shall be defined by the Contributor Agreement, and not this web page.
My Vision for the Site
My site is dedicated to building an immersive historical story experience. This is not a “book promotion” platform; my vision is to create a destination for historical fiction readers who want to lose themselves in rich, believable worlds, compelling characters, and thought-provoking narratives.
I judge every submission on one key question:
Does this content genuinely engage and add value for historical fiction readers?
The Essentials at a Glance
All Submissions Are Unpaid
Guest posts are voluntary and unpaid. In return, you get:
Exposure to an audience that loves historical fiction.
A permanent byline, author bio, and links to your own site or books.
Exceptional content may get additional promotion across my social media and newsletter.
I aim for mutual benefit: your content enriches the site, and my platform helps readers discover your voice.
Rights and Licensing
You retain full copyright to your work.
If your submission is accepted, you will grant me a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide, perpetual license to:
Publish your work on my site.
Share and promote it on social media, email newsletters, and partner platforms.
Keep it in the site’s archives.
If your piece is syndicated on a partner site, I always credit you as the author. To the extent that the external platform shall allow multiple links, your links will accompany your content.
I ask for originality, but not exclusivity— you are free to post the same piece elsewhere at any time, but you must disclose the original publication source via a canonical link. Similarly, if you are submitting content that has already been published elsewhere, you must disclose the location where it was published, including the URLs so that I can credit that source as a canonical link.
You can learn more about what is a canonical link on this Google page.
Editorial Standards
My readers and I expect submissions to be:
Original – written by you and not AI-generated without human creativity.
Accurate – especially in historical facts, dates, and context.
Respectful – no hate speech, unlawful content, or gratuitous graphic material.
Polished – correct grammar, clear structure, engaging prose.
Depicting real people?
Living persons: must be portrayed accurately, respectfully, and with permission if private individuals.
Historical figures: free to use creatively but avoid defamation or factual misrepresentation unless explicitly disclosed (for example, as alternative history).
I will not be able to make substantive edits to your work, but may return it with feedback or decline it if it needs significant changes to meet standards. I reserve the right to decline your submission for content, clarity, style, or length at my sole discretion.
Indemnification
You’re legally responsible for your work.
By submitting, you agree to:
Ensure your content doesn’t infringe copyright, violate anyone’s right of privacy, or defame anyone.
Cover any claims or costs that arise if your content causes legal issues.
DMCA Compliance
As a platform, my site follows the Digital Millennium Copyright Act:
If a valid takedown notice is received for your content, I will remove it and inform you.
Following the DMCA procedures, you can file a counter-notice if you believe the claim is wrong. It is your responsibility to understand the legal exposure that filing a counter notice creates. I do not provide legal advice.
What I Publish
I accept a range of historical fiction–related content, provided it meets my quality standards.
I’m looking for:
Character sketches –portraits of protagonists or antagonists from your stories.
Scenes or excerpts – opening chapters or compelling passages (if published, you must have rights to publish elsewhere).
Deleted or cut chapters.
Historical research articles – background discoveries, period detail, or context that informed your writing.
Behind-the-scenes insights – your creative process, how you wove fact and fiction, or the challenges of world-building.
I Do Not Accept:
Purely promotional book blurbs or sales pitches.
Book Reviews (yours or others’).
Time-sensitive content tied to launch dates or campaigns.
Generic plot summaries without depth or insight.
Content unrelated to historical fiction.
Material previously published without your affirmative statement that you have the right to republish.
