The Historical Fiction of Paul Jariabek ARC Program gives selected readers an early look at my novels before publication. I run the program myself, because I would like to develop a more personal relationship with my readers.

Here is how the program works, from applying and receiving an advance copy to sharing a review if you wish.

Campaigns and Invitations

I’ll open an ARC campaign when I’m preparing to launch a new book. I’ll share an invitation in my email updates, along with a link to that campaign’s page. There, you’ll find information about the book, the number of places, when to apply, the reading deadline, and the formats and languages available.

An invitation is a chance to apply; it isn’t a promise of a place. I can consider you for a campaign only if you apply for it. Signing up for my email updates, entering a giveaway, or telling me you’re interested in my work won’t enroll you automatically. Each campaign is considered separately, so applying or being selected once doesn’t guarantee a place in a future campaign.

Applications and Reader Selection

The application asks about the kinds of books you enjoy and the format you prefer. Fill in the required fields and confirm your email address to submit it. You’ll receive an email confirming that I’ve received your application; that confirmation doesn’t mean you’ve been selected.

I choose readers based on their answers and how well their interests fit the particular story. Selection is not first-come, first-served. You don’t need a public review page or a social media following, and you don’t have to promise a review—or a positive opinion of the book.

I keep each campaign small enough to manage alongside the other work of launching a book.

Applications close on the announced date or when all places are filled, whichever comes first. I’ll set the closing date with the reading deadline and launch schedule in mind, and share it when applications open. I’ll let you know whether you’ve been selected.

Advance Copies, Formats, and Languages

An advance reader copy, or ARC, is the full novel I share with selected readers before publication. My editing team and I may still be doing a final proofread, so you might spot the occasional typo. You’re welcome to let me know, but I’m not asking you to edit the book.

If you’re selected, I’ll send you a download link and the reading schedule. Copies are digital, in EPUB or PDF. EPUB works with many reading apps, and Kindle readers can add an EPUB to their library using Amazon’s Send to Kindle service.

You don’t need a Kindle to take part. If you read with Apple Books, Barnes & Noble, Kobo, or another app, you’re very welcome to apply—just let me know your preference.

Reading Schedules and Reminder Emails

The reading deadline helps me coordinate the campaign with the book launch, and you’ll see it on the campaign page before applying. If you decide to post a review, it’s helpful to have it ready around publication, but there’s no obligation to do so.

I may send two or three reminder emails as launch approaches, with a note about the reading deadline and links for leaving a review. These are just reminders; reviews are always optional.

Voluntary Participation and Honest Reviews

Taking part is entirely up to you. If selected, you’ll receive the ARC for free, with no purchase required, and you may keep it whether or not you leave a review. I’m grateful for honest reviews on Amazon or wherever you normally talk about books.

If you choose to leave a review, please mention that I gave you a free copy of the book.

Apart from the free copy, there’s no payment or other reward for participating or reviewing.

Promotions, Sweepstakes, and Giveaways

I use the same email service for ARC messages and occasional news about promotions, sweepstakes, and giveaways. You may receive those announcements just like other readers, and you’re welcome to enter any that interest you.

Being part of the ARC program won’t give you extra entries or improve your chances of winning. Giveaways and sweepstakes are separate from the ARC program.

Similarly, entering a promotion doesn’t qualify you for an advance copy. To be considered, please apply to the ARC campaign separately.

Personal Information and Future Campaigns

I never sell your personal information.

If you apply, I’ll keep your name, email address, and application record in my email service unless you unsubscribe or ask me to remove them. Once a campaign ends, I won’t keep its selection decisions. Whether or not you were selected won’t affect future campaigns.

You can withdraw your application, unsubscribe from my emails, or ask me to remove your information at any time, without penalty. Use the unsubscribe link in any email, or contact me using the details in the Privacy Policy .
